Our venture into dramatic portrait taking.

We still have no flash, so we made use of what we had – a dimming overhead dining lamp!

(Feel free to give constructive criticisms.)

Hidalgo Price Update – Nikon D90 Kit and SB-900

with 4 comments

Went to Hidalgo to buy a UV filter and lens cap for our 70-210mm Tamron (Tam-Tam or Tammy!) who is currently donning a sock. I wanted to go home after the purchase since I was so sleepy (straight from my HP shift).

I purchased everything from M20, including two lens blowers (one for me and Jacq, and the other for Geric) – but I could not resist canvassing prices for the SB-900 and D90 (next gear we’re going to get).

Without further ado, here are the prices that I got. Hope this helps! Prices are in Philippine Pesos.

M20

D90 kit: around 66k, with columbia warranty, comes with a 2gb CF

SB-900: around 29k (unbelievable)

Henry’s (BEST DEAL!)

D90 kit: around 56k, comes with a 4gb CF card and bag

SB-900: around 21,500

Mayer’s

D90 kit: I’m sorry I forgot. There were a lot of people and I was so sleepy. The price was not lower than Henry’s though.

SB-900: around 22,500

That’s it! Will post price updates when I pass by again next month to get the SB-900 (Wanted the SB-800 but it’s being phased out).

Recently went out with dad for breakfast. When I was going home, I was – not really shocked – but a bit surprised to see an old lady lying down on the sidewalk without a care and seemed very much comfortable (I took the shot using my iPhone 3G).

We may be immune to these kinds of scenes but this is quite depressing.

Thank You Mr. Jan Paul Yap

with one comment

We would like to thank Jan Paul Yap for giving us a link to Benjamin Kanarek’s post processing technique. Read it here.

Jan Paul used to be Rouge’s high school classmate and bandmate (awesome heavy vocals – we played “Blind” by “Korn”). Now he is now an internationally known photographer, included in the Pentax gallery.

*We bow down to you*. Thanks again Paul!

Aligned With The Wing – An Aerial View of a Golden Sunset

This is somewhat a late post, since around two weeks have passed since my trip back to Iloilo City from Manila.

I was bored at the airport so I took a few shots using Geric’s Super Wide Angle lens, and I used my good old 18-55mm in the plane to take my sunset pictures.

My plane seatmate was very much curious on what I was doing. I was taking pictures of the sunset – overwhelmed by the perspective that you don’t see everyday. He said that this view is indeed very rare. I told him yes, given the fact that it is taken from a plane and that the lighting (golden!) the timing could not be better.

He asked if I was a journalist. I chuckled, and said no. I told him that I was just a beginner at this, and that this is my hobby, my passion.

That makes me think. I might not be in the right profession after all. lol.

Holy Week Full of Butterflies!

without comments

Our first post! :)

We are Rouge and Jacq, a photography-addicted couple. Mind you, we are not formally educated in photography. We learn through real-life experiences and mostly via accident (Accidental Artists)!

We want to share our learning experience to the world, so that we can learn from the world too.

On to our first set!

We went to Mambukal Resort (Negros Occidental, Philippines) to unwind and escape from the hectic city life. Little did we know that a pleasant surprise was waiting for us – a butterfly garden! Since we only had one camera, we were fighting over it (not “fighting” fighting, but “lovingly fighting”, hehe)! We were overwhelmed by the shots that we could take.

We were also using full manual mode so it took us a bit of time to get the right mix. The metering on the Tamron was busted to we had our skills tested to the max! Haha!

We hope you enjoy the pictures!
